Dead End will be the closing title of the official competition of Canneseries, running this year from 24-29 April. The new series, toplined by Peter Van den Begin (Tabula Rasa, The Weeping Walk [+lee también:

In detail, the show revolves around a man called Ed Bex, who has a peculiar eating disorder: whenever he tastes something, he’s able to see flashes of what happened to it in the past. It’s a bizarre “gift” that he uses in his unconventional job, running his one-man business The Aftertaste, where Ed helps grieving families cope by reconstructing the final moments of their loved ones. How does he do it? By “seeing” what only he can see – by sucking on someone’s toothbrush or tasting their lipstick.
When Inspector Adams stumbles upon a corpse in an airtight bag, he turns to Ed for help catching the killer. Ed’s faced with a dilemma: should he use his unusual gift to solve the murder? If his freaky power works on a carrot or a lamb chop, would it work on human flesh, too? As Ed “sinks his teeth” into the case, he finds himself caught in a whirlwind of bizarre events, family trouble and mid-life struggles.
The main cast is rounded off by Marjan De Schutter (Geldwolven), Emilie De Roo (Hotel Beau Séjour), Ward Kerremans (Soil) and Jesse Bo Gebruers (At Night We Fly).
Gozin, who created and wrote the Caviar series Tabula Rasa and Clan, previously worked together with Baer and Finkel on the remake of the latter, Bad Sisters, for Apple and ABC Signature Studios. Notably, Bad Sisters scooped three BAFTA Awards (including Best Drama Series), several Irish Film and TV Awards, a Peabody and four Emmy nominations.
Dead End is being staged by Lompvis for Caviar, PlayMedia and Streamz, with backing from the VAF, Screen Flanders, BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance and Caviar Film Financing. The series will be released on Play Media and Streamz in Belgium later this year. Caviar is in charge of its international rights.
