It took a while for the situation to unravel, but in the end, the international sales department of French company Les Films du Losange will be heading to the Marché du Film (13-21 May) at the 78th Cannes Film Festival with three top attractions in the Official Selection and the Directors' Fortnight.
The line-up has finally been enhanced by a contender for the 2025 Palme d'Or: Resurrection by China's Bi Gan, who has been eagerly awaited after Kaili Blues (winner of the 2015 Locarno prize for Best Director) and the hypnotic Long Day's Journey Into Night [+lee también:

A woman wakes from a brain operation to find herself the only living being in a world lying in ruins, except for a bionic half-man, half-robot. Every evening, like Scheherazade, she dreams up a story for him, a metaphorical tale recounting almost a century of solitude for China. At the end of her stories, she must make a choice: return to the real world or remain alone with this bionic being, for whom she has started to have real feelings. Production was handled by China Huace Film & TV and Dangmai Films, with co-production by French company CG Cinema.
Alice Lesort's team will also be banking on another event in the Official Selection: the world premiere in Un Certain Regard of The Chronology of Water, the directorial debut of acclaimed actress Kristen Stewart. Played in the lead role by England's Imogen Poots (supported by Thora Birch, Charlie Carrick, Tom Sturridge, Susanna Flood, Esme Creed Miles, Kim Gordon, Michael Epp and Jim Belushi), the film is an adaptation by Stewart herself, Andy Mingo and Lidia Yuknavitch of the latter's autobiographical novel. The script centres on young Lidia, who has grown up in an environment torn apart by violence and alcohol, and is struggling to find her path. She manages to escape her family and enters university, where she finds refuge in literature. Gradually, words offer her an unexpected freedom… The feature film was produced by the US (Nevermind Pictures, Andy Mingo), UK (Scott Free), France (CG Cinema International) and Latvia (Forma Pro Films), in association with Curious Gremlin, Fremantle Media Limited, Lorem Ipsum Entertainment and Scala Films, with financial support from the Latvian Investment and Development Agency.
Les Films du Losange are selling a third film, no less eagerly awaited, which will make its world premiere during the Directors’ Fortnight: Yes by Nadav Lapid. Winner of the Golden Bear at Berlin in 2019 with Synonyms, the Israeli filmmaker has already made two appearances at Cannes: Critics' Week in 2014 with The Kindergarten Teacher and in competition in 2021 with Ahed's Knee [+lee también:
