Earlier this month, Netflix kicked off principal photography on The Trap, a new six-part psychological thriller created by Isabel Kleefeld and produced by Constantin Film. Shooting is currently under way in and around Düsseldorf and Cologne.
The series, adapted from the eponymous novel by German author Melanie Raabe, revolves around Lisa Konrad (played by Friederike Becht), a reclusive writer who hasn’t left her house in a decade after witnessing the murder of her sister. When she spots someone she believes to be the killer on television, she decides to set a trap – using herself as bait. The official press release published by Netflix bills it as “a complex web of deception and truth, about a murder of which almost anyone could be the perpetrator”.
The cast includes Hans Löw as investigative journalist Robert Lenzen, Matthias Brandt as publisher Norbert Rudow, Miriam Ohlmeyer, Josephine Thiesen, Malaya Stern Takeda, Anna Schudt and Michael Klammer.
Kleefeld (Dear Child) serves as writer, director and creative producer. The crew also reunites key collaborators from her previous projects: cinematographer Martin Langer (Kleo [+lee también:

The show is being produced by Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker for Constantin Film, with Oliver Berben attached as executive producer. Kleefeld, Spiess and Oetker previously collaborated on Netflix’s hit miniseries Dear Child, which won the International Emmy for Best TV Movie or Mini-series.
The Trap will premiere exclusively on Netflix. Delivery is expected in 2026.
