Written by the director, the script centres on two men no one would have bet on: Jérémy, stuck behind the counter of a video store in Amiens, and Bouna, a cleaner at Orly airport. With no contacts, no money and a very poor level of English, no one would have predicted that they would end up as big-name agents in the NBA. The film tells the story of these two outsiders who, thanks to their absolute passion for basketball and their unfailing friendship, braved all the obstacles to achieve their American Dream. The tale of years of hardship leading up to their first big break: Nicolas Batum's new contract with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2012, worth $46 million over four years.
Le Rêve américain was produced by Nicolas Duval Adassovsky and Margaux Marciano for ADNP Quad Films, and co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and Gaumont. Pre-bought by France Télévisions, Disney+ and Prime Video, the film, which took nine weeks to shoot in Paris and Canada with cinematographer Antony Diaz, will be released in French cinemas on 18 February 2026 by Gaumont, which is also handling international sales.
