The 38th Film Festival Herceg Novi – Montenegro Film Festival will spring to life from 23-29 August in the eponymous seaside town, also hosting the second edition of the festival’s industry days platform, the Montenegro Film Rendezvous (23-25 August). The festival will kick off on Saturday evening with an opening ceremony and a screening of Srđan Vuletić’s Montenegrin-Bosnian-Italian co-production Otter [+lee también:

, which also recently opened the Competition Programme – Feature Film of the Sarajevo Film Festival just days ago.

The Montenegro Film Festival will play host to several strands of films, including its Feature Film Competition and Documentary Film Competition Programmes, as well as the Student Film Competition Programme. Other sections are dedicated to European movies of note (Cinema Europa), non-fiction works (Homage Documentary Film), television series (TV Niša) and a special clutch of titles as part of the Adriatic Audience Award selection. Highlights of this year’s selection include homegrown works, including the premiering directorial debut by Montenegrin actor Milivoj Mišo Obradović, 15 and a Half, and Ivan Salatić’s Wondrous Is the Silence of My Master [+lee también:

– a Montenegrin-led co-production that premiered earlier this year at IFFR, in the Tiger Competition.

The festival will also play host to the Bosnian black comedy The Pavilion [+lee también:

Led by head of industry Aleksandra Božović, the Montenegro Film Rendezvous will include the presentation of 12 Montenegrin feature-film projects – including four documentaries – as well as six regional projects in development, organised as a collaboration between the French Embassy in Montenegro and the French Institute in Montenegro. The industry days event is hosted in cooperation with the British Council. The rendezvous will also welcome experts, producers and representatives of film funds from across the industry, including from the British Film Institute, Screen Yorkshire, Framestore Ltd, various film centres (those of Greece, Slovenia, Serbia, France, Croatia, Romania and others), the Tribeca Film Festival, the Les Arcs Film Festival, the European Producers Club and more.
