Three couples of various ages decide to “take a break”. This is the straightforward and familiar focus of Prendiamoci una pausa, the new movie by Christian Marazziti who is returning, following the success of Disconnected in 2018, to direct an ensemble cast exploring the different characters’ various idiosyncrasies.
Filming kicked off on 8 September and is set to continue for six weeks in the Lazio region, involving some of the best-known acting talent in Italian cinema: Marco Giallini (nominated six times for a David di Donatello award, more recently for Perfect Strangers [+lee también:

Written by the director himself in league with Mauro Graiani and Gianni Corsi, Prendiamoci una pausa explores a little-explored moment in romantic relationships: taking a break. That complicated limbo where couples find they can’t be together but can’t leave one another either, where relations – increasingly tested by temptations and hectic lifestyles – run the risk of slipping into second place. This suspended period in time is explored through the emblematic stories of three couples: for forty-year-old Fabrizio, it’s an emotional disaster concealing other issues; for his partner Valeria, it’s an opportunity; for Valter, who’s nearing sixty, it’s an unacceptable wrong imposed on him by his wife Fiorella, to whom he’s been married for thirty years, whereas, for her, it’s a necessity; for nineteen-year-old Erica it’s a bump in the road; for her boyfriend Gabriel, whom she met online, it conceals his need to find himself. Will stopping and listening to one another in order to try and save their relationships really be worth it, at the end of the day?
Prendiamoci una pausa is being produced by Camaleo in co-production with Agresywna Banda (Poland) and Koboflopi (Spain), in association with Eagle Pictures who are also managing distribution in Italian cinemas. The film is benefitting from finance from the Italian Fund for Developing Investment in Film and Audiovisual Works and further support from the POR FESR Lazio Cine-International Programme. The movie’s release in Italy is scheduled either for spring of 2026 or else on Valentine’s Day, 14 February.
