Arte France Cinéma respalda Jenjira's Magnificent Dream, de Apichatpong Weerasethakul

The third selection committee for the year 2025 by Arte France Cinéma (directed by Olivier Père) has chosen to get involved in co-production and presales on four projects. Amongst those stands out Jenjira's Magnificent Dream by Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, winner of the Palme d’or in Cannes in 2010 for Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives [+lee también:

and double Jury Prize winner on the Croisette for Tropical Malady in 2004 and Memoria [+lee también:

in 2021). Starring Jenjira Pongpas, Connor Jessup, Sakda Kaewbuadee and Tilda Swinton, the film will center on Jenjira, a Thai widow going to Sigiriya to spread her husband’s ashes. As blurry visions alter her perception of time and space, she finds herself on a trip through different time periods. Throughout this journey, guided by science and empathy, Jenjira becomes a living portal that bridges the past, the future, and the spiritual… The production brings together Anna Sanders Films (France), Burning (Colombia), Kick the Machine (Thailand), Baldr Film (the Netherlands), Piano Producciones (Mexico) and Meta Films (Canada). Shooting will start in Sri Lanka in February 2026.

Arte France Cinéma will also support Le cabinet du docteur Albertini, the 13th feature by Emmanuel Mouret (who was notably in competition in Venice in 2024 with Three Friends [+lee también:

). Leading the cast are Laure Calamy and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, in a police comedy that will see the terribly jealous Julia start a psychotherapy with Doctor Albertini to try and master her obsessions. But when Sandra, the new colleague of her partner Caroline, enters their lives, her torments multiply – until the day when Sandra is found murdered. The production is led by Paris outfit Moby Dick Films and the beginning of shooting is planned for February 2026 in Île-de-France.

Also emerging from the selected projects in Impunidad, which will be the second feature by Chilean filmmaker Felipe Gálvez, who made a big impression In Cannes’s Un Certain Regard section in 2023 with The Settlers [+lee también:

. This time, the filmmaker embarks on a political spy thriller set around the arrest of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet and inspired by the book 38 Rue de Londres by Philippe Sands. The production brings together Les Films du Worso (France), Rei Pictures (Argentina/United Kingdom) and Quiddity Films (United Kingdom) for a shoot that will begin next June and will take place in the United Kingdom, in Chili and in Spain.

Finally, Arte France Cinéma will also support Corte Culebra, the debut fiction feature by Panama filmmaker  Ana Elena Tejera which will dive in the year 2000, in a crucial moment in the history of Panama: after almost a century of American presence, the country takes back complete control of the Canal zone. Leading the cast is Chilean star Alfredo Castro (Tony Manero, El Club). Produced by French outfit Fulgurance and Panama company Mestizo Cine, the film will start shooting in Panama in February 2026.
