The story follows Giuliano, whose life has improved thanks to his working from home, but his colleagues’ poor performance threatens to force everyone back to the office. Meanwhile, he and his wife, Laura, are expecting a second child and are looking for a bigger home. As Laura makes up her mind about a controversial job offer, Giuliano’s co-workers turn their flat into a makeshift office, rekindling their efficiency and organisation. Amid intrusive co-workers and domestic chaos, Giuliano will have to find creative solutions to save his job, his family and the dream of a new home.

The shoot has taken in numerous locations in central Turin, including Via Borgo Dora, Via Principe Amedeo, the Giardini Peyron, various streets in the Crocetta district and several private apartments. The official press release issued by the Film Commission Torino Piemonte highlights the strong presence of local crew and performers, including location manager Elena Gnisci, costume designer Cristina Audisio, set dresser Barbara Sgambellone, casting director Leucotea Monti, make-up artist Francesca Buffarello and hair stylist Pina Piras. In total, around ten Turin-based actors and 14 featured extras have taken part in the project.

“Amidst prep and the shoot itself, Turin has become a second home I’ve fallen in love with. Filming here has allowed me to tangibly enrich the movie in terms of the originality of the storyline and the characters’ identities. Local professionals have enabled me to run a calm, technically impeccable set,” said Moltrasio.

Produced by Ideacinema and Italian International Film in collaboration with RAI Cinema, Smart Working – Il lavoro agile received support from the Piemonte Film TV Fund, the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and the Ministry of Culture through the fund for developing film and audiovisual investments. The producers are Claudio Saraceni, Federico Saraceni and Jacopo Saraceni.
