Filming will begin on Monday 2 February for Orange-Flavoured Wedding, Christophe Honoré's 16th feature film. Honoré has presented six films at Cannes (including three in the competition, Love Songs in 2007, Sorry Angel in 2018 and Marcello mio in 2024) and Winter Boy in competition at San Sebastián in 2022, his most recent participation in the festival.

The cast includes Vincent Lacoste (twice nominated for the César Award for Best Actor, winner of the César Award for Best Supporting Actor Lost Illusions, recently appearing in A Private Life), Paul Kircher (twice nominated for the César Award for Most Promising Actor, winner of the Marcello Mastroianni Award at Venice 2024 for And Their Children After Them, and acclaimed last year in Meteors and Colours of Time), Adèle Exarchopoulos (Palme d'Or in 2013, César Award for Best Supporting Actress for All Your Faces and nominated twice more, to her credit last year in Dog 51 and The Piano Accident), Nadia Tereszkiewicz (César Award for Most Promising Actress for Forever Young, recently acclaimed in Two Pianos and Heads or Tails?), Alban Lenoir (French Blood, protagonist of the Lost Bullet trilogy), Noée Abita (Lumière 2021 for Best Newcomer for Slalom, last year in The Party's Over!, among others), Malou Khebizi (Wild Diamond) and Ji-Min Park (Return to Seoul, who was well received last year in The Little Sister and Love Me Tender).

Written by the director (nominated for a César Award in 2009 for Best Adaptation), the screenplay focuses on the Puig siblings, a family of seven children. Today is the wedding day of the youngest, Jacques. The setting is March 1978, in a church in a suburb of Nantes. The father is not attending the wedding, having been banished from the family. Jacques marries Martine, a young woman who lives in the same neighbourhood as him. It is a marriage of love. But can love heal childhood wounds?

Orange-Flavoured Wedding is produced by Philippe Martin for Les Films Pelléas (with David Thion as associate producer) and co-produced by Hugo Sélignac for Chi-Fou-Mi Productions. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Netflix, the feature film also benefits from advance funding from the CNC and the Brittany and Pays de la Loire regions. The six weeks of filming will take place in Rennes and Angers until 13 March, with Jeanne Lapoirie (nominated for a César award in her field in 2003, 2014 and 2018) as director of photography. Sales are being handled by Pyramide International and the film will be released in French cinemas by Ad Vitam Distribution.

As a reminder, Les Films Pelléas' recent achievements include Jafar Panahi's Palme d'Or winner It Was Just an Accident, Jean-Stéphane Bron's series The Deal (special mention at Séries Mania and screened last summer at the Piazza Grande in Locarno) and Philippe Béziat's documentary The Orchestra (showing this week at FIPADOC and in cinemas in France on 22 April). Currently in post-production are Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet's A Woman's Life, Pierre Salvadori's The Electric Kiss and Emily Atef's co-production Call Me Queen.
