The eighth edition of 12 Punto – Turkey's flagship initiative aimed at energising the local film industry – has concluded with an awards ceremony held in Istanbul. Running from 12-19 July across various venues in the city, the TRT-organised platform once again gathered filmmakers, producers, script consultants, festival programmers and industry professionals from around the world for a week of project development, networking and master classes.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, TRT director general Mehmet Zahid Sobacı underlined the platform's evolution over the past eight years, describing 12 Punto as a space where promising ideas are refined through collaboration and prepared for an international journey. He noted that since its launch in 2019, the initiative has accompanied nearly 250 producers and directors in developing their projects, with more than 140 receiving support through TRT's various funding schemes before going on to achieve international festival success.

Sobacı also stressed the importance of preserving authentic cinematic voices in an increasingly homogenised global film landscape, emphasising TRT's commitment to supporting stories rooted in their own cultural and geographical contexts. He further highlighted the platform's broader social mission, pointing to this year's special programmes dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the 15 July events and to Palestinian cinema, reaffirming cinema's role as a vehicle for historical memory and social responsibility.

The jury comprised distinguished international film professionals, headed by Oscar-winning Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, alongside Romanian director Cristi Puiu, Swedish producer Erik Hemmendorff, producer Nadim Cheikhrouha and Venice Film Festival consultant Violeta Bava. They awarded the TRT Co-Production Prize to three projects, the TRT Pre-Buy Prize to three additional projects and the TRT Project Development Prize to six projects. The jury also selected the recipients of the TRT International Co-Production Award.
