Principal photography is set to begin on 17 August for Enfin seuls, the first feature film by Marie Loustalot, who has made a name for herself as a director with five short films (including À nous deux ! at Locarno in 2018) and as an editor with Summer Beats, The Five Devils and A Taste of Ink, among others.
The cast features writer-director Sophie Letourneur (L’Aventura, Voyages en Italie, Sorry Angel), Grégoire Colin (nominated for the 1993 César for Most Promising Actor, Special Prize in Locarno in 1996, currently on screens in the diptych De Gaulle), Patience Munchenbach (acclaimed for Mikado, Acide and The Bare Necessity, and set to be seen in 15/18 at Venice), Joseph Engel (Falcon Lake, The Crusade, A Faithful Man) and Hannah Jallon.
Written by Marie and Arthur Loustalot, in collaboration with Claire Burger (Party Girl, Real Love, Foreign Language), the screenplay follows Maho (18), Tristan (16) and Lola (14), whose father abruptly leaves one evening. The following day, their mother moves out as well. In the family apartment, suddenly emptied of any authority, a rule-free interlude begins, where the urgency to become, to love and to understand mingles with the dizzying sensation of growing up too fast…
Produced by Elsa Klughertz for Jonas Films (whose recent credits include Stages of Love), Enfin seuls has received support from the Grand Est region, the Eurométropole of Strasbourg, Procirep/Angoa and the CNC (through development funding). The project also took part in the Ateliers d'Angers. The four-week shoot will take place in Strasbourg until mid-September, with Juliette Barrat serving as director of photography. International sales will be handled by Ecce Films, while distribution in French cinemas will be handled by New Story.
