CEE Animation Workshop has opened the call for entries for its 2027 edition. The year-long training programme will select 12 animated projects, while a limited number of places will also be available for career-orientated participants without a project. Applications are open until 15 October 2026.

The workshop is aimed at producers and creative teams developing animation projects in a range of formats, including short films, TV series, specials, features, hybrid films and XR works. Participants without a project will instead be able to focus on developing a long-term strategy for their careers in animation.

The 2027 programme will once again be led by producers Réka Temple (Cinemon Entertainment, Hungary) and Annemie Degryse (Lumière Group/Les Productions de Milou, France/Belgium), together with script consultants Phil Parker (UK) and Rita Domonyi (Hungary), who will accompany the selected teams throughout the programme.

Running from February to October, the workshop will comprise four one-week modules, two held online and two taking place on site in Riga, Latvia, and Slovenia. The in-person sessions will include an Open Industry Day designed to connect participants with representatives of the local animation sector. The participants will also have the opportunity to attend the 2027 CEE Animation Forum in the Czech Republic.

Across the four modules, the teams will work on production strategies and scripts, develop their pitching skills, and take part in lectures and case studies with animation professionals. The programme will culminate in a final presentation and pitch to a selected group of industry representatives.

Over its previous eight editions, the CEE Animation Workshop has helped develop more than 90 projects involving 280 participants from around the world, while more than 200 guest experts and industry representatives have contributed to the programme. The two-year pilot programme for animation script consultants, launched during the 2026 edition, will enter its second year in 2027.

The CEE Animation Workshop is organised by the Slovene Animated Film Association (DSAF), CEE Animation, the Slovak Association of Animated Film Producers (APAF) and the Latvian Animation Association (LAA).
