Lo mejor del cine alemán reciente llega a París
Prosecution, de Faraz Shariat

Este artículo está disponible en inglés.

Faraz Shariat’s Prosecution, which won the Panorama Audience Award at the latest Berlinale and is set to be distributed in France by Memento, will open the 31st German Film Festival in Paris, unspooling between 7 and 11 October in Paris’ L’Arlequin cinema. Organised by German Films in co-operation with the Goethe-Institut and with the support of Arte and OFAJ, the event will boast a line-up showcasing the best of recent German film production.

Stealing focus among the 10 features in the main Paris Panorama programme are three additional titles discovered in the most recent Berlinale: Allegro Pastell by Anna Roller, Roya by Mahnaz Mohammadi and the documentary Sometimes, I Imagine Them All at a Party by Daniela Magnani Hüller.

Likewise stepping into the spotlight are A Fading Man by Welf Reinhart (well received in competition in Rotterdam and set to close the Paris-based event), Babystar by Joscha Bongard (screened in Toronto’s Discovery section), Hijamat by Nader Saeivar (unveiled in competition in Karlovy Vary) and the comedy The Frog and the Water by Thomas Stuber (which scooped the Best Actor Award in Tallinn Black Nights).

They’re joined by The Guests by Spanish filmmaker Cristina Diz and German director Stefan Butzmühlen (a movie first seen in the Munich Film Festival), Six Weeks On by Jacqueline Jansen, and the documentary Ingeborg Bachmann – Someone Who Was Once Me by Regina Schilling (in which actress Sandra Hüller delves into the life of author Ingeborg Bachmann over the course of one imaginary day).

Special Screening previews also include No Good Men by Shahrbanoo Sadat (which opened the latest Berlinale and is due for release in French cinemas on 3 February by Condor Distribution) and Visitation by Volker Schlöndorff (unveiled in the Cannes Première line-up and due for release in France on 24 March 2027 via StudioCanal).

It’s worth noting that the traditional Goethe Focus will this year be dedicated to director Julian Radlmaier (Phantoms of July, Bloodsuckers), who’ll be delivering a masterclass on 9 October, and that special screenings will also be on the agenda for 10 short films, including the best recent works  from German film schools (Next Generation) and the winners among shorts under 15 minutes (Short Tiger Award).
