As illustrated by Lila Pinell’s Shana, which dazzled in the most recent Directors’ Fortnight line-up, projects which spend time in Groupe Ouest’s Annual Selection (read our news on the 2026 cohort) often make a splash in major international festivals.

Every year, Groupe Ouest’s screenwriting coaching scheme, the Annual Selection (headed up by Antoine Le Bos), supports eight fiction projects (both live action and animation) proposed by Francophone screenwriters and filmmakers. For those lucky enough to be selected, the programme running from March to December 2027 will notably include three collective work sessions by the sea in Plounéour-Brignogan-Plages (Finistère), overseen by screenwriter-consultants.

Standout alumni from previous years include The Girl in the Snow by Louise Hémon, Filles du Ciel by Bérangère Mc Neese, Little Jaffna by Lawrence Valin, Ghost Trail by Jonathan Millet, The Ice Tower by Lucile Hadzihalilovic, Savages by Claude Barras, Close by Lukas Dhont, The Dreamer by Anaïs Tellenne, Junkyard Dog by Jean-Baptiste Durand, A Tale of Love and Desire by Leyla Bouzid, All To Play For by Delphine Deloget, Skies of Lebanon by Chloé Mazlo and Cuties by Maïmouna Doucouré.

Groupe Ouest’s call for projects for its 2027 Annual Selection will close on 12 November.
