El estatuto de los productores en el audiovisual en la Federación de Rusia
por European Audiovisual Observatory
Given the transition from state control to free market made by the Russian film industry in the late 1980s, it was clear that the definition of a film producer would similarly undergo profound changes. From state employee to private impresario, film producers in the Russian Federation have seen their rights and legal status swept by the wind of change. Given the reported upsurge in the Russian film industry in 2008 in terms of admissions, it is extremely interesting to look at the current status of producers in Russia.
How is their work defined? What is an audiovisual work according to Russian legislation? What are producers’ rights concerning the works they produce? What do other producers wishing to co-produce with Russia need to know about the legal playing field of potential Russian production partners?
The European Audiovisual Observatory published a report on the topic.
