INSIDE AMERICA

by Barbara Eder

synopsis

Based on director Barbara Eder’s memories of her time at a high school in Brownsville Texas. The camera follows six young people on the border between puberty and adulthood. The actors actually attend the school, leading to a blurring of reality and fiction. The dreams of the young people in the film could be those of the actors, and these dreams are in stark contrast to what is taught in class, their first experiences with drugs, smalltown violence and hopelessness.
