ARCADIA
by Yorgos Zois
synopsis
Katerina, a neurologist, and Yannis, a respected retired doctor, are on their way to an off-season seaside resort. It is a windy autumn day as they drive across the sand dunes. The silence pervading the car speaks to their unpleasant task: Yannis has been called to the hospital of a small town to identify the victim of a tragic accident. When the local police officer informs them that the victim’s vehicle plunged over the parapet of a stone bridge and takes them to the morgue, Katerina sees her worst suspicions confirmed. Together with Yannis, but also on her own during nightly excursions to a mysterious, rustic beach bar called Arcadia, she begins to put the individual pieces of the puzzle together to reveal a haunting story of love, loss, acceptance and letting go.
