A young boy’s body is found in a peat bog near a small town in Latvia. Local police officer Brože is assigned to the case, and before long Adamson, the town drunk, confesses to the murder. But when Brože notices a pendant on the boy’s neck, he is convinced that the dead child is Mickey, his childhood friend who vanished more than three decades ago. When Adamson sobers up, his account proves unreliable and he is released. As Brože tries to keep order in a town hungry for revenge, he is drawn back to the day Mickey disappeared. The bog seems to hold more than one secret.
