synopsis

Miguel is appointed parish priest of a socialist village at the time of the 1936 uprising. From the start of the war, the village is occupied by the National Front and soon the shootings come in quick succession. In his fight to defend the victims, Miguel comes up against the ecclesiastical and military hierarchy, putting his own life at risk. Based on a true story, the film gives a historically accurate account of the Catholic Church’s support for the revolt against the Republic, known as the "Holy Crusade".
