LevelK is asserting its presence at the Film Market (8-17 May) of the 71st Cannes Film Festival (9-19 May) with four market screenings. The Danish international sales boutique will be bringing both previously released and newly acquired films for industry audiences.

The slate starts off with the claustrophobic survival thriller Cutterhead [+lire aussi :

by debutant Danish director Rasmus Kloster Bro, which will be introduced to the market. The story follows a young female journalist, Rie (Christine Sønderris), who is visiting a Copenhagen Metro construction site in order to report on the works. After an unexpected explosion, she ends up trapped underground with two workers, Ivo (Krešimir Mikić) from Croatia and Bharan (Semere Russom Samson) from Eritrea. There, they will have to find a way to survive despite the fact that each of them has a completely different world view. The film is set to be released in Denmark in autumn 2018.

The other two market screenings being organised by LevelK are well-received comedies that have already travelled across the pond. The first is Mads Brügger’s debut fiction feature, the satire The Saint Bernard Syndicate [+lire aussi :

, which premiered and was recently crowned with the Best Screenplay and Best Actor Awards at the Tribeca Film Festival, while its Danish release is set for later this week. Then there is the Finnish “heavy metal dark comedy” Heavy Trip [+lire aussi :

, co-directed by Jukka Vidgren and Juuso Laatio, which was included in the 2018 SXSW line-up and follows a young man who is trying to overcome his fears by leading a totally unknown heavy metal band from Finland to the hottest metal festival in Norway. The movie retains the essence of Spinal Tap, even though it is set in the Nordics.

Finally, at a closed market screening, LevelK will be showcasing its most recent acquisition, the Australian psycho-sexual thriller The Second directed by first-time filmmaker Mairi Cameron.
