Through the words of key figures and archive materials from that time, Santiago, Italia tells the story of the months following the coup d’état of 11 September 1973 in Chile, which put an end to the democratic government of Salvador Allende. The movie focuses particularly on the role played by the Italian embassy in Santiago, which granted refuge to hundreds of opponents of General Augusto Pinochet’s regime, subsequently allowing them to reach Italy.
The film, produced by Sacher Film, Le Pacte, Storyboard Media (Chile) and Rai Cinema, will reach Italian theatres on Thursday 6 December 2018, distributed by Academy Two.
