Péter is in his late thirties when he thinks he recognises his father in a documentary on a mysterious accident. His father deserted communist Hungary in the 1970s, a criminal offence under that regime, and has not been heard from since. Péter travels to America and, after an eventful investigation, finds his father and his new family. The reunion offers them plenty of experiences and teaches several lessons to both father and son. Also, as a consequence, the world is informed that the mute universe has spoken and that we are not alone.

His Master's Voice, based on Stanislaw Lem's cult novel, was produced by Hungarian outfit KMH Film, in co-production with Canada's Quiet Revolution Pictures, and is sold internationally by Hungarian National Film Fund-HNFF World Sales. The film will have its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 31st Tokyo International Film Festival (25 October-3 November).
