The Cinekid for Professionals industry event, which took place in Amsterdam from 23-26 October, has explored the possibilities of international co-production, given wide international exposure to projects and films and discussed the major issues in contemporary kids’ media. The event was divided into various sections: the Industry Forum, the Junior Co-production Market & ScreeningClub, the Producers Programme, the kick-off of the Cinekid Script LAB, the Kids & Docs Workshop (organised in collaboration with the IDFA) and the meeting of the Wrap! Project.

As usual, a Eurimages Co-production Development Award was granted during the closing ceremony of the event to the Best Film Project presented during the Junior Co-production Market. The award, given by the European fund in order to support European youth film and to further stimulate European co-production, includes €20,000. This year the winner was Czech project Tony, Shelly & Genius written by Jana Šrámková, directed by Filip Pošivač and produced by Prague-based Nutprodukce. The award jury stated, "We decided to give the Eurimages Co-production Development Award to a project that surprised and convinced us at the same time. High artistic quality based on traditional European values combined with a modern cinematographic language. We (as the jury) are convinced that Tony, Shelly & Genius has a universal approach, and the potential to travel and reach an international audience. And even more so it has the outstanding possibility to become the first big screen experience for a new generation of children".

The jury also gave a special mention to the Belgian project My Dad is a Sausage, written by Jean-Claude van Rijckeghem, directed by Anouk Fortunier and produced by A Private View, in the words of the jury, "a project that in an original way tells a story about a hectic family with unexpected humour".

The next edition of the event will take place from 22-25 October 2019.
