Final Touch is back for its fourth edition. The training programme promoted by the IDM Film Fund & Commission, in conjunction with the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen, is aimed at young filmmakers who wish to put the finishing touches to their own film or documentary, prior to its release. First-time directors hailing from Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Hungary will be able to benefit from advice dispensed by international experts, who will help them to evaluate each and every key aspect of the work that will be decisive for its success: content, post-production, editing, market potential, distribution, funding, advertising, and even launching it at an industry festival.

Applications will be accepted until 31 December 2018, and you can apply by filling in the form on Movie-it.info, the portal dedicated to training schemes in South Tyrol. After the registration phase, the selected candidates will have to present a rough cut or a teaser of their film project between 1 January and 25 February 2019.

The confidential meetings with the interdisciplinary team that will be guiding the selected filmmakers will take place during the 2019 edition of the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen – more specifically, from 11-13 April 2019.

The experts who will be keeping a close eye on the participants’ work are as follows: Nicolaj Nikitin, who has been the Berlinale representative for Central and Eastern European films since 2002; Sergio Fant, a consultant for various festivals, including Locarno; Catia Rossi, an expert in distribution, and the founder and manager of international sales agent True ColoursFlorian Geiser, of the Cine Chromatix Italy post-production company, based in Merano; Nina Kusturica, an editing expert, director and film producer; and lastly, Birgit Oberkofler, an expert in film financing and, since 2017, the coordinator of the IDM Film Fund & Commission, together with Renate Ranzi.

Two awards will be handed out as an integral part of Final Touch: the Cine Chromatix Post-Production Prize, worth €5,000 in post-production services provided by Merano-based Cine Chromatix Italy, intended for the completion of the project; and the True Colours International Distribution Prize, which consists of tailor-made distribution services for the winning project and is offered by Rome-based international film distributor True Colours.
