The story follows Jean Barreau, a retiree who lives in the countryside. There, he is the leader of a spiritual commune for tormented souls, whom he promises the chance of a second life. One of his believers and guests is 30-year-old Camille Griffon, who is trying to discover a meaningful path in her life. The problems start when her doppelganger appears in her house. At that moment, she and Jean’s believers come to understand that he was literally standing by his promise, but not everyone seems ready to accept this new, second life.
