. The director’s feature debut won the main Works in Progress Award at Les Arcs in December and centres on nine-year-old Benni, a troubled girl who gets expelled from school. “We are delighted to have secured System Crasher and to be working with Nora Fingscheidt. We consider her to be one of Germany’s most talented and exciting up-and-coming directors,” Tassilo Hallbauer, Beta Cinema’s vice-president of sales and acquisitions, stated. “The way she leads her terrific actors and creates emotions in System Crasher completely overwhelmed us. Benni grabbed us and just didn’t let go for weeks. Suffice it to say that we have barely ever seen a director exploring the complicated and varied psyche of a child in this much detail. But ultimately, it’s about the universal themes of love and rejection, and that’s why we believe in the great international potential of this wonderful film.”
