“What a wonderful night!” These were the words of Matteo Garrone last night as he accepted the nineth statuette won by his film Dogman [+lire aussi :

fiche film], as it was announced Best Film 2019 at the 64th edition of the David di Donatello Awards. The biggest and most sought-after prize awarded by the Italian Film Academy was handed out at the end of a somewhat triumphant evening for the Roman director, to say the least (“film has the power to create unexpected and unrepeatable moments, and something has happened with this film”, he said), having already sailed victorious through the Nastri d’Argento Awards (read our news). Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (Edoardo Pesce), Best Cinematography, Best Set Design, Best Make-Up, Best Editing and Best Sound are the other titles (out of 15 nominations) which the film can now add to its rich list of honours.
But yesterday’s awards ceremony, held at the Studios on Rome’s via Tiburtina, was also a special night for the Netflix film On My Skin [+lire aussi :

And finally, among the recipients of the Special David was the King of Horror, Dario Argento.
