fiche film], Alessandro Genovesi’s new Christmas comedy Dieci giorni con Babbo Natale and the German-Austrian crime-thriller TV series Il pastore are among the 7 new projects supported by the IDM Film Fund & Commission during the first round of 2020 funding, for which 72 days of filming, in total, are envisaged in the Alto Adige region.

Six projects will receive funds in the production phase. Non mi uccidere, described as a love story transposed into a horror-fantasy universe, marks Andrea De Sica’s return to the Alto Adige where he shot his first work Children of the Night [+lire aussi :

fiche film]. Produced by Vivo Film via Marta Donzelli and Gregorio Paonessa, this new project will also, in all likelihood, involve Warner Bros. Italia.

Alessandro Genovesi’s new comedy Dieci giorni con Babbo Natale, meanwhile, is produced by Colorado Film and will star Fabio De Luigi, Valentina Lodovini and Diego Abatantuono in leading roles. Following on from When Mom Is Away [+lire aussi :

fiche film], the director is back once again recounting the adventures of the Rovelli family who, ten days ahead of Christmas, set out on an unlikely journey northward bound.

There’s another horror film amongst the various projects whose production will be bolstered by the IDM Film Fund: The Deep House, directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, as put forward by French production house Radar Films. Here we see the village of Curon turn set once again, following on from the homonymous Netflix Original series shot there last November. Hailing from Sweden, meanwhile, is the project Till Sleep Do Us Part (Dreamcatchers), an Unlimited Stories AB production from Stockholm, written and directed by Peter Dalle, and offering up a love story that’s half dream, half reality, exploring the unexpected twists and turns of life.

IDM will also be funding the production of a TV series, as well as a documentary: for its part, the crime-thriller series provisionally intitled Il pastore is a German-Austrian co-production involving the likes of Berlin-based Good Friends Filmproduktion and Vienna’s Satel Film; the documentary project, meanwhile, going by the name of Wildnis Europa – Tiere der Superlative, is composed of six episodes and will be directed by Veronika Kaserer. Produced by German firm Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion in co-production with Norwegian outfit Fabelaktiv, the project looks to show animals in their natural habitat by way of special filming technology which allows operators to create perspectives from an animal’s point of view, making their experiences and daily challenges tangible for the viewer.

There’s one project set to be supported in the pre-production phase: Gasbarra, from Bolzano production house Mediaart Production Coop, which is written by Gabriel Heim, directed by Martin Hanni and is a documentary about the life of the Italian-German writer and playwright Felix Gasbarra, who lived between Germany and Italy, from the 1920s until after the Second World War, and who is considered, even today, to be a pioneer of the radio documentary genre.

The next 2020 deadlines for sending funding requests to the Alto Adige Film Fund & Commission are 5 May and 22 September.
