Since its intention to collaborate with the Cannes Film Festival in this atypical year 2020 was announced, the San Sebastián International Film Festival has continued to add films with the Cannes 2020 imprint to its programme. The upcoming 68th edition, to be held between 18 and 26 September, has just announced a new set of five films to be included in the Official Section, where one of the films that have received the green light from Thierry Frémaux and his team, Passion simple [+lire aussi :

The filmmaker has previously taken part twice in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight and now travels to the Basque city with this Franco-Belgian co-production starring Laetitia Dosch and Sergei Polunin — an adaptation of the novel of the same name by French author Annie Ernaux, in which a woman loses her head over a Russian diplomat.

In addition to this film, the festival led by José Luis Rebordinos has also selected other works such as the new film by British Julien Temple, known for his work as a music documentary maker. In Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan [+lire aussi :

(2014). The filmmaker has managed to get hold of two stars, Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci, to play a couple that prioritises spending time together after one of them has been diagnosed with early dementia.

The competition will also welcome Argentinian Eduardo Crespo and his third feature film, We Will Never Die. Outside the official competition, offerings will include the second film directed by US actor Matt Dillon, who back in 2006 was already awarded the Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award: The Great Fellove, a documentary on the Cuban musician and performer Francisco Fellove.

This announcement on the films to be included in the festival’s Official Section supplements the previous announcements, which can be read here and here.
