The animation scene of Central and Eastern Europe has come together and joined forces to deliver Animation October, a series of events that will take place both physically and online in six cities between 29 September and 10 October.

Kids Kino Industry, which traditionally unspools in Warsaw, is going fully online from 29 September-2 October. The programme includes pitching sessions, one-to-one meetings, master classes and workshops. The 27 selected projects are divided into two sections: Projects in Development and Works in Progress. For more details, see our news on the selection.

The 13th edition of Poland's largest animation festival, Animator - International Animated Film Festival, will take place in Poznan and online from 3-9 October. Under the overarching theme "Beyond My World", it is showing two international competitions for shorts and features, plus the Polish competition. The networking side is organised through a Facebook group.

The Czech Republic's largest animation event, the Anifilm International Festival of Animated Film will, for the first time in 18 years, not take place in Třeboň, but rather in Liberec, from 6-11 October. It has no fewer than seven international and five Czech sections, and is focused on music and sound in animation, under the moniker "Hear Animation". It also includes content aimed at children and pitching sessions both on site and online.

The fifth edition of the ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, an event that focuses on stop-motion animation, traditionally held in Łódź, will take place online from 6-10 October. The pitching event happening on 9 October will include awards such as an art residency in Cordoba and recruitment for the legendary Laika Studio in the USA. A clutch of artists who have worked on Oscar-winning productions, such as Kim Keukeleire, Andy Gent, Tobias Fouracre and Malcolm Hadley, will teach workshops on animation and puppet building.

The CEE Animation Forum will organise its next, online edition from 6-8 October, with pitching sessions and direct one-on-one meetings between project teams, juries, decision makers and professionals.

Finally, the tenth edition of the StopTrik International Film Festival will take place in Łódź from 6-8 October and in Maribor from 8-11 October. It includes the Animation as a Weapon retrospective and the International Stop Motion section, plus the Borderlands Competition and Panorama 2020, as well as workshops for stop-motion technique and festival journalism.
