The story of Wolka revolves around Anna, who is released from a Polish prison. Once free, Anna has but one goal, which is to find a woman called Dorota, but to achieve it, she needs to break her parole, break the law and head off to the remote island of Iceland. The film’s cast includes Olga Błądź, Jan Cięciara, Eryk Lubos and Anna Moskal. Meanwhile, the main technical crew members are DoP Marek Rajca, editor Mateusz Rybka, production designer Marta Luiza Macuga, costume designer Brynja Skjaldardóttir and composer Atli Örvarsson.
Wolka is being produced by Hilmar Sigurðsson and Beggi Jónsson for Iceland’s Sagafilm, and by Stanislaw Dziedzic for Poland’s Film Produkcja. It was also backed by the Icelandic Film Centre and the Polish Film Institute.
The film’s release is slated for the second quarter of 2021. The Polish sales have been entrusted to Monolith, whilst ARRI Media International is in charge of its world sales.
