Yesterday, 29 September, IMDb TV launched in the UK. Amazon’s ad-based, premium, free streaming service will include a rich library of classic films and shows, such as Quentin Tarantino’s hits Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction, Matt Reeves’ monster flick Cloverfield, Jared Hess’s comedy Napoleon Dynamite, Anthony Minghella’s war drama The English Patient, the space-opera series Babylon 5, and sitcoms of the likes of Community, 2 Broke Girls and Anger Management.

The service will also feature several IMDb TV Originals, such as the docuseries Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary, Moment of Truth and Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.

In the UK, Amazon Prime and non-Prime users will be able to access IMDb TV through the “IMDb TV – popular movies and TV – free with ads” carousel within the Prime Video app. In addition, the free streaming platform will also be available via a standalone app on Fire TV in the coming weeks.

Commenting on the launch, IMDb TV’s co-heads of content and programming, Lauren Anderson and Ryan Pirozzi, said: “IMDb TV has created a free-to-consumer destination by combining a hybrid of exclusive Originals from Amazon Studios and highly sought-after movies and television. Today’s UK launch marks a major step in our mission to offer customers widely appealing content and globally relevant storytelling, through a personalised, free streaming experience.”
