fiche film], brothers Raitis Abele and Lauris Abele examine the fine line between artistic creativity and mental problems. Troubled Minds is taking part in the First Feature Competition of this year’s Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (12-28 November – see the news). The Latvian filmmakers mostly work together, alongside the third brother and this film’s DoP, Marcis Abele, as a creative trio, sharing various roles in their filmmaking and art projects. Their big international success came when Raitis and Lauris co-directed the short Castratus the Boar, which won the Grand Prix at the Tampere Short Film Festival, and they also created a drama documentary about the traditions of paganism, Baltic Tribes – Last Pagans of Europe.
The main cast of this feature includes Toms Auninš, Marcis Lacis, Daniela Vetra, Juris Zagars, Darta Danevica and Marija Skangale.
Troubled Minds is a Tritone Studio presentation, with backing from the National Film Centre of Latvia and Jurmala City Council.
