“53 million euros to support one of the country’s primary creative industries, with significant aid allocated to young directors and tricky films”. In terms of the first call, the resources made available for production activities have increased from around 28 million to 38.1 million euros. Of this sum, roughly 12.9 million will go to feature films by young directors, whether first or second works, including those which might be described as research or graduation films; 3.3 million will go to documentaries and short films; 4.8 will go to animated works; 17.1 million euros are earmarked for feature films with specific artistic qualities - so-called “tricky” films with modest financial resources.

1.2 million euros have been allocated to film, TV or web screenwriting, while 3 million euros will shore up the development and pre-production of film, TV and web works.

This selective aid should not exceed 50% of the audiovisual work’s overall eligible costs, or 100% in the case of tricky works.

As for the second call, resources for activities and initiatives relating to film and audiovisual promotion have also increased, by 2.2 million euros, now totalling 10.7 million euros. The first relates to the development of film and audiovisual culture in Italy, promotion of the sector’s internationalisation, and promotion of Italy’s image through film and audiovisual works, and through other activities, also for touristic purposes (2.7 million euros); the second revolves around the organisation of festivals, gatherings and awards ceremonies of national and international consequence (6.5 million euros)., while the third homes in on activities linked to acquisition, conservation, cataloguing, restoration, studying, research, and the use and valorisation of film and audiovisual heritage, as carried out by film libraries (1.5m).

Funding requests can be submitted by public and private bodies, foundations, cultural committees and associations, as well as those involved in the promotion of film and audiovisual in Italy and abroad, universities and research bodies, and institutions offering higher education in the arts.
