McDonagh’s new effort will be showcased in the main competition. Set on an island off the west coast of Ireland, it follows two lifelong friends, Padraic (played by Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm abruptly decides to end their friendship.
With the support of his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon), who along with the local policeman’s son Dominic (Barry Keoghan), has her own qualms within the small island community, a confused and devastated Padraic attempts to reignite their relationship. But when Colm delivers a shocking ultimatum in order to crystallise his intention, events start to escalate to fractious heights.
Curiously, this production will reunite Gleeson and Farrell, who previously worked together on Martin McDonagh’s successful black comedy In Bruges [+lire aussi :

Filming began in August 2021 in Inishmore, with scenes shot also on Achill Island. The project wrapped shooting on 23 October.
McDonagh produced the picture with Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin of Blueprint Pictures (UK) for Searchlight Pictures (USA), Film4 (UK) and Metropolitan Films International (Ireland).
