Un moment du workshop de cette année

The TorinoFilmLab will be taking part once again in Rome’s International Audiovisual Market scheduled to unspool 11 – 15 October, the MIA, by way of its SeriesLab programme, which looks to develop innovative and high profile TV series projects with international potential. On Thursday 13 October at the Cinema Barberini, the laboratory - which is organised by Italy’s National Film Museum, and which has been uncovering audiovisual talent and helping them make their own films and TV series since 2008 - will present the nine projects taking part in SeriesLab 2022, which hail from Belgium, Germany, Romania, Serbia and the UK, to international TV industry professionals.

The nine selected projects took part in a five-month programme, in which these 22 screenwriters, directors and producers got to experience the entire process of creating a concept for a TV series – from the initial idea through to preparing film footage – via online sessions and residential workshops held in Germany and Italy. The teams were guided by tutors Francesca De Lisi (Italian screenwriter and author), Anne Feinsilber (French director, producer and screenwriter) and Simon Judd (English script editor and screenwriter) under the supervision of Head of Studies Nicola Lusuardi.

The pitching session scheduled for 9.30am in the Cinema Barberini’s Drama Room will be moderated by French producer and pitching trainer Agathe Berman. The Book of Projects containing details of the projects in question can be accessed here.

“We’re proud to once again be presenting our SeriesLab selection to MIA audiences”, enthused TorinoFilmLab’s Programmes Coordinator Angelica Cantisani. “Every project is characterised by its own special blend of uniqueness and productive potential, which shows how SeriesLab isn’t just an ideas laboratory; it’s also a cauldron of European talent who have the potential to help create new series projects with strong international appeal”.

The next edition of SeriesLab will unspool in 2023. Those wishing to take part can send in their applications between 16 January and 31 March next year. Registration for SeriesLab’s parallel programme SeriesLab – Talents will also be open at this time. This initiative looks to train emerging authors and screenwriters who will acquire experience of a real writers’ room.
