Shooting Locations Marketplace, an event for location scouts, producers, service providers and filming destinations, organised by Feria de Valladolid and the Spain Film Commission and sponsored by Valladolid City Council, will celebrate its second event on 20 and 21 October. The number of participants this year (30% more than last year) establishes this event as an international benchmark for the audiovisual industry.

The president of the Spain Film Commission, Carlos Rosado, stated that "this year we must solidify the foundations of this project, which twelve months ago proved to be a very useful tool for production companies and the network of film commissions and film offices". And the managing director of Feria de Valladolid, Alberto Alonso, explained that in this second event "the number of destinations as well as the number of participating location scouts and producers, both national and international, has increased".

The philosophy of the second Shooting Locations Marketplace is to enable meetings between destinations and location scouts with common interests, and a programme of more than 700 professional meetings. The number of location scouts participating has also increased compared to 2021 and this year there will be around 50 professionals from seven countries attending Feria de Valladolid. 76% are international, with the majority from the United States and Great Britain. Mexico also joins this list, along with Germany, Canada, Italy and Spain.  "It is worth noting that this year producers are also attending: a profile with a greater decision-making power when it comes to choosing where to film," Alonso indicated.

Exchanging knowledge, reflecting on success stories and analysing future challenges in the sector are also the aim of Shooting Locations Marketplace, and so a series of conferences area being organised, which will begin with a talk by James Lin from NBC Universal. Representatives from Norway, Abu Dhabi and Alex Scott will then discuss the key areas of growth for a shooting destination. The first day will conclude with a round table on international productions with participation from the president of Profilm, Fernando Victoria de Lecea; Agustín Atxa, from the Bilbao Bizkaia Film Commission, and the British Dan Connolly.

On Friday 21 it will be Malta’s turn, with Salvador Yagüe, location manager for the series ¡García! [+lire aussi :

(soon to be released on HBO, on 28th October), and Víctor Aertsen, from the Madrid Film Office. The session will conclude with a discussion between Lori Balton, an American location scout, and Indian producer Bobby Bedi, whose work includes the 1970s series Sandokan. And after the sessions, this trip concludes with a programme of visits to venues in Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Vigo, Pontevedra and the Canary Islands.
