The CEE Animation Talents selection focuses on talents whose work shows promise and bodes well for successful future careers. Rather than boosting sales, its aim is to provide support for dissemination at film markets, specifically among film distributors, sales agents and festival programme directors. “The original purpose of creating this annual selection was to try to make animation from the CEE region more visible abroad and help young filmmakers with their festival tours,” explains Maroš Brojo, the project coordinator.

A board of experts is compiled annually to select the best regional work produced that year. Festival artistic directors Annaida Orosz (Primanima, Hungary), Olga Bobrowska (StopTrik, Poland), Pavel Horáček (Anifilm, Czech Republic), Ivana Sujová (Fest Anča, Slovakia), Daniel Šuljić (Animafest Zagreb, Croatia) and Igor Prassel (Animateka, Slovenia) participated in the selection process this time around.

In the eight-year history of this project, almost 50 short films have been promoted, and more than 200 screenings have taken place around the world.

CEE Animation Talents 2022 is composed of nine animated short films from seven countries, without dialogue or with English subtitles. The 73-minute compilation is targeted at adult audiences. The organisers prioritise the presentation of this collection at different world film festivals but offer rights to online events as well.
