This summer will see shooting commence, on the Amalfi Coast, on the new Italian Prime Video Original work Costiera, an action-drama series with an international cast set to be directed in English by Emmy-award-winning helmer Adam Bernstein (Breaking Bad, Fargo, Scrubs, 30 Rock, Masters of Sex, Californication, Better Call Saul, Orange is the New Black, Shameless).

Co-produced by Amazon Studios and by Luca Bernabei on behalf of Lux Vide (of the Fremantle Group), the series will be available on Prime Video in 2024, distributed throughout the world. “Costiera will transport our viewers to the Amalfi Coast, where things might appear perfect, but where not everything is quite as it seems”, teased Amazon Studios’ Local Originals VP James Farrell. “The Original Italian team, led by Nicole Morganti, has produced what promises to be an exceptional show, as well as having signed a game-changing agreement for an Italian production”. As confirmed by Prime Video Italy’s Director, Marco Azzani, “We’re always trying to raise the bar for our clients and Costiera is another example of how determined we are to do this. It’s an incredibly ambitious series”.

Written by Elena Bucaccio (Lux Vide’s Editorial Director) together with Francesco Arlanch, Costiera revolves around Daniel De Luca, an Italian-American ex-marine who’s paid to resolve problems in one of the most exclusive hotels in the world, in Positano. Daniel, or DD as he’s known to everyone, helps wealthy tourists get themselves out of hot water and return home from this corner of paradise on earth, where he lives as the owner’s guest – because Daniel is the only person who caught sight of the face of the man who might have kidnapped his daughter and, as such, he’s the only person capable of hunting him down. The authors of the series promise a compelling story, an enigmatic protagonist, spectacular locations and a fast pace.

“I’m genuinely thrilled about Costiera, a high-concept project which we fully developed ourselves from the beginning through to the end”, enthused Lux Vide CEO and Producer Luca Bernabei. “We have no doubt that this ambitious title will allow us to continue showing Italy and our way of life to the world, this time through a compelling and modern Italian story set in a luxurious context”.

“Another great example of a series created locally and designed to entertain international audiences”, is how Andrea Scrosati – Fremantle’s Group Chief Operating Officer and Continental Europe CEO – describes Costiera, and Fremantle’s Commercial and International CEO Jens Richter echoes his sentiments: “An exciting thriller set on the sun-drenched Amalfi Coast, an innovative series which has all the ingredients for success”.
