The 16th edition of the Belgrade International Documentary Film Festival Beldocs, which is still taking place until later today, 17 May, in several cinemas in the Serbian capital, is about to come to an end, having held its awards ceremony on Tuesday evening. Along with the traditional prizes, this year’s edition hosted one more: the Eurimages Audentia Award, which was previously hosted at Montreal and Trieste, with Beldocs becoming the first documentary film festival to give out the award. It was presented to Smoke Sauna Sisterhood [+lire aussi :

by Anna Hints.

As for the traditional awards, it is interesting to note that both of the main winners (in the international and the national competitions) premiered at IFFR earlier this year. In the international competition, the winner was Karim Kassem’s Thiiird, which, like his previous feature-length works, blurs the line between the documentary and fiction genres in a unique mélange. A Special Mention went to Sergio Guataquira Sarmiento’s Adieu Sauvage [+lire aussi :

In the national competition, the Best Film Award was given to Tijana Petrović’s A Field Guide to Coastal Fortifications, a 24-minute documentary essay. Dragana Jovanović was awarded for Best Camera for her work on her own film Aurora's Dream, while Luka Papić and Srđa Vučo scooped the Best Editing Award for Invoked, which was also directed by the duo.

Zsófia Paczolay’s Budapest Silo triumphed in the short competition, while Alice Brygo’s Ardent Other won the Special Mention. The Beldocs Teen Award went to And the King Said, What a Fantastic Machine [+lire aussi :
