On Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 June, the sixth edition of Rodando Páginas, del libro a las pantallas (lit. “Shooting Pages, From Book to Screens”), a rendezvous involving the audiovisual and publishing sectors, will be held in the Eugenio Trías Public Library (El Retiro Park), coinciding with the Madrid Book Fair. The initiative was founded in 2018 with the ultimate aim of boosting audiovisual and cinematic creation through the adaptation of literary works. It is an annual meeting point that fosters synergies between the two industries, the promotion of new stories, their conversion to film language and their adaptation to different kinds of screens.

This gathering for producers, distributors, representatives of television channels and platforms, and publishers intends to attract the best Spanish-language literary talent to Madrid. The works selected to take part in the sixth edition will be presented – in a pitching format – in front of a professional audience on 7 June, from 11 am to 2 pm, and from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Of the 134 works sent in, encompassing both Spanish and international titles (hailing from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Peru), 16 have been selected to take part in this edition. Eleven are Spanish ones and five come from other countries, taking in genres such as comedy, drama, crime stories, adventure, children’s and youth books, fantasy, science-fiction, LGTBIQ+ and historical works.

The titles are as follows: Red April by Santiago Roncagliolo (Alfaguara, Peru/Spain), Dama de Pueblo by Gema del Castillo (Ediciones en el mar, Spain), El dolor de la memoria by Susana de Murga (HarperCollins, Mexico), Gordo de Porcelana by David Pascual (Grupo Planeta, Spain), La inspectora gitana by Mario Escobar Golderos (Spain), Marinka, una niña rusa vasca by Rodolfo Luna Almeida (Grupo Planeta, Argentina), Me llamaré Silver Stardust by Nuria M Deaño (Editorial Alrevés, Spain), Nistagmo (o la danza de los ojos) by Bruno Puelles Reyma (Apache Libros, Spain), Oliver y Max by screenwriter Ángela Armero (Nube de tinta, Random House, Spain), El Power Ranger rosa by Christo Casas (niños gratis*, Spain), Las revanchas by Ángel García Roldán (Piel de zapa, Spain), Romualda, la pelusa de los libros by Virginia Rodríguez Herrero (Editorial Babidi-Bú, Spain), ¿Te atreves? by Daniel Hernández Chambers (Ediciones El Naranjo, Mexico), Todo va a mejorar, the final novel by late author Almudena Grandes (Tusquets Editores, Spain), One-eyed Person, Cursed and in Love by Rosa Huertas (Editorial Luis Vives, Spain), and Un virus de amor. Cómo el VIH salvó mi vida by Margarita García Telesca and Cecilia Abadie (Estudio di Candia, Uruguay).

Rodando Páginas is organised by the Madrilenian Audiovisual Association (AMA) and the Federation of Spanish Publishers’ Guilds (FGEE). It has secured support from the Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council via the Government Department for Economy, Innovation and Employment, the Madrid Book Fair, PIAF, CEDRO and DAMA.
