FULGOR Lab has announced the titles participating in its second project development laboratory, aimed at promoting co-productions between Ibero-American countries with Spain as the cornerstone. Its selection committee has picked the winners from among more than 90 proposals submitted from different Latin American countries.

This year’s edition features a guest project, the result of a collaboration agreement with PROYECTA, a joint initiative from Ventana Sur, Marché du Film and San Sebastian Film Festival: La casa de playa, to be directed by Kim Elizondo and produced by Gabriela Fonseca (Costa Rica).

The other selected titles include Spain’s Tiempo fuera, by Iván Bustinduy and produced by Francisco Novick; Backside Ollie, directed and produced by Bárbara Fernández Pérez; and Puedo ver la tierra temblar, by Santiago Velásquez and produced by Marina Andreu;
Colombia’s P versus NP, by Ricardo Rodríguez and produced by Fausto Tapias; El árbol de la sombra rota, by Nicolás Baksht and produced by Aymara Larson (Mexico); El niño y el tiburón, by Lucia Flórez and produced by Chemi Pérez (Peru); and Antes del fuego, by Ángel Giovanni Hoyos, produced by Jorge Andrés Botero (Argentina).

In total, three fiction projects, the same number of documentaries and two hybrids have been selected, and more than 60% of the selected directors are under 30 years old. Seven projects are first works and two of them are participating for the first time in a lab.

The names of the mentors for this year's edition have also been announced: the film script development specialist Miguel Machalski and the filmmaker Andrés Duque (Karelia: International with Monument [+lire aussi :

The second edition of FULGOR Lab started on 22 June, kicking off activities with personalised mentoring, masterclasses and industry meetings aimed at strengthening projects and promoting co-production, which will continue until September. At which point the in-person part begins, from 24 September to 2 October, between San Sebastian and Madrid, where the final pitch will take place.

FULGOR Lab is an initiative from LENS School of Visual Arts with help from the ICAA - Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts and funding from the European Union - NextGeneration EU, through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. It is supported by the Madrid Film Office, DOCMA Spanish Documentary Film Association, PROYECTA (Ventana Sur), the Biarritz Latin American Film Festival, LatAm Cinema, Singular Law, Guayaba TV, EICTV (Cuba) and Zerkalo Films.
