The next workshop of the GoCritic! training programme for emerging film journalists and critics, in partnership with the Animation Festival Network (AFN), will take place at the Animateka International Animated Film Festival in Ljubljana from 27 November-3 December. The call for participants is open via this link, and the deadline for applications is 13 October.

Up to six emerging film journalists and critics will be selected to work on reviews, interviews, essays and industry stories with Estonian critic, editor and curator Tristan Priimägi, editor of the film section at the weekly magazine Sirp, and a founder and programmer of DocPoint Tallinn Documentary Film Festival. Accommodation and sustenance will be provided to the participants by the programme.

Animateka Ljubljana is an international festival that focuses on high-quality auteur animated film, and presents the crème de la crème of short animated films from Central, Eastern and Southern Europe in its main competition programme. Sidebars include the most original European student films, carefully selected international titles for children and teenagers, as well as various special programmes.

In addition to the rich film programme, audiences get to enjoy an abundance of events, such as talks with authors, master classes, round-tables, a regional pitching session (all within the industry-orientated platform AnimatekaPRO), workshops, exhibitions, concerts and informal gatherings. Animateka's goal is to be a focal point where professionals from both the region and the world can meet, foster collaborations and co-productions, and at the same time spark an interest in the local public and get them to fall in love with animated film.
