With Björk on the decks for a private set lasting several hours in honour of Isabelle Huppert, Vicky Krieps and Luca Guadagnino, who were received and awarded a prize by the Icelandic President of the Republic, the Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) pulled out all the stops to celebrate its 20th edition, which was closed by Yorgos Lanthimos’ Venetian Golden Lion Poor Things [+lire aussi :

In the main New Visions competition dedicated to first and second feature films, the mesmerising movie Baan [+lire aussi :

by Portugal’s Leonor Teles (discovered in competition in Locarno) bagged itself the Golden Puffin, as decided upon by a jury composed of filmmaker Ísold Uggadóttir, Susana Santos Rodrigues (IndieLisboa) and the writer of these lines. A Special Mention, meanwhile, was awarded to Family Time [+lire aussi :

by Finland’s Tia Kouvo (unveiled in the Berlinale’s Encounters section).

As for the competition entitled A Different Tomorrow, judged by a jury including Alessandro Raja (Festival Scope) and documentary-maker Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir, it was the French production Orlando, My Political Biography [+lire aussi :

by Spanish director Paul B. Preciado which reigned supreme (having previously won the Special Jury Prize in Berlin’s Encounters line-up and being due for release in national cinemas on 11 October).
