The story begins in Barcelona on 23 May 1981. Barely three months have passed since the attempted coup d'état in the Congress of Deputies, when eleven hooded men enter the headquarters of the Central Bank in Barcelona. What starts out as a spectacular robbery soon becomes a genuine challenge to Spain's recent democracy, as the robbers hold more than 200 hostages (workers and customers) in the bank and threaten to kill them if the government does not agree to release Colonel Antonio Tejero and three others responsible for 23F.
Asalto al Banco Central is a production for Netflix by Brutal Media, a company behind projects such as El club de los lectores criminales, a slasher by Carlos Alonso-Ojea that adapts the novel of the same name by Carlos García Miranda, starring Álvaro Mel, María Cerezuela and Daniel Grao, as well as having produced feature films such as Te quiero, imbécil [+lire aussi :
