Toronto dévoile le programme de ses sections Galas et Special Presentations
Hard Truths de Mike Leigh

Cet article est disponible en anglais.

After revealing a few titles in each section across July, yesterday the Toronto International Film Festival announced its full line-up of Galas and Special Presentations, featuring a healthy split of world premieres and North American launches of festival hits from this year. The festival will take place between 5-15 September, the week after Telluride and just as Venice (who announce their line-up today) is winding down.

The Toronto line-up is typically scanned for its relevance to award season, although it's also a launchpad for work of high commercial appeal seeking sales; some films are bought there only to feature in the following year's Oscar hustings. Among the world premieres, highlights are the new films by UK's Mike Leigh (Hard Truths [+lire aussi :

, among many others, will also hit the festival.

On the more commercial front, many icons of contemporary pop will be highlighted, from R.J. Cutler and David Furnish’s Elton John: Never Too LatePiece by Piece, Morgan Neville’s rendering of Pharrell Williams in LEGO; and Better Man, Michael Gracey’s biopic of Robbie Williams, which the industry is tipping to perform well at the box office.

Sections with more independent European productions, such as the competitive Platform strand and Discovery, will be announced in the coming weeks.
