The fourth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria concluded on 4 October in Madrid, bringing to a close an extensive and exclusive programme of more than 120 activities spread over four days. Surpassing the figures of the previous edition, more than 2,600 industry professionals came together from 50 countries.

A large representation of the Ibero-American industry, including auteurs, creators, filmmakers, scriptwriters, showrunners, producers, distributors, buyers, sales agents, platforms, television channels, studios, talents, managers and decision makers from more than a thousand companies, as well as financial institutions and investment funds and organisations dedicated to tourism, education and new technologies related to the audiovisual sector, have come together in this unique space. It aims to bring the sector together, learn about the latest trends, create synergies and business opportunities to promote the development of new projects and globally consolidate the Ibero-American audiovisual sector, including series and feature films.

The largest number of professionals participating in Iberseries & Platino Industria have been from Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, United States, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Portugal and Uruguay. There is also an increased presence of executives from countries such as Italy, France, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, Panama, Germany, Puerto Rico and Ecuador at the event.

Iberseries & Platino Industria's rich programme has four programming axes: Conferences, Keynotes and Spotlights, Iberscreenings (with their sections: Chapter ONE, Coming Soon, Premier Cine, Second Window and Showcases, MAI (Ibero-American Audiovisual Market), Co-Production and Financing Forum, Pitch Sessions for Platforms and Production Companies and the Showrunners Training Workshops, Artificial Intelligence in Film and Series Post-Production, Financial Tools and Content Strategy.

56 panels were held, with the participation of 220 speakers, key figures and industry experts, with the attendance of more than 200 international journalists. Important agreements have been reached between different agents of the sector and the organisers with various organisations in order to continue strengthening ties on both sides of the Atlantic and to continue collaborating in future joint actions. New content strategies from major studios, platforms and production companies were also unveiled.

22 screenings were held with exclusive screenings and others open to the public, as well as premieres and previews of new series and film content with production companies, studios, channels, platforms and sales agents, in the presence of more than 180 buyers and commissioners from 30 countries. And 189 new projects were presented in the Pitch, Forum and Showrunners' Workshop sessions, selected from more than 1,300 proposals received.

These figures show that participation from professionals in the sector has increased by more than 48% since the first edition and that more and more delegates from outside Spain are attending, representing 45%. The number of countries present has doubled since 2021, from 25 in the first edition to 50 in the fourth edition. The number of companies has increased by almost 50% compared to last year.

At the closing event, co-directors Samuel Castro and Juan Alía thanked all the participants for attending this year, which has exceeded expectations. Samuel Castro has commented that “Iberseries & Platino Industria has established itself on the calendar of professionals who work, produce and finance audiovisual content in Spanish and Portuguese. I think we have created a very positive meeting point, with high quality conferences and open participation among content generators, eager to share and seek partnerships and funding opportunities, one of the main objectives of this event. And we are now ready to open up to the European and international market.”

And Juan Alía stated that “this edition has been a success, and the figures show it with extraordinary results. We have more than increased the volume we had last year. The increase in the number of participating companies is very important, it speaks volumes about the international aspect of Iberseries & Platino Industria, with the presence of 50 countries. What we will be most proud of is to see how in two or three years the projects that have been presented here in the pitch sessions become a reality and reach the public.”
