Five fiction projects and five documentaries from Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Slovenia, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon will join the third edition of València Film Afers, the International Co-Production Forum of the 39th Mostra de València – Cinema del Mediterrani, which will take place as part of the film festival on 29 and 30 October. The producers and directors of the projects will participate in various pitching sessions and one-to-one meetings with professionals from the industry in order to establish links that will help them complete their financing and viability.
Among the selected proposals, covering a range of social issues and from drama to comedy and film noir, there is a significant number of projects directed and produced by women: Le Malentendu directed by Sarra Abidi, exposing the marginalisation of minorities; Restoration by Egyptian director Amira Mortada, which explores conservative family traditions and a mature woman's relationship with her body; Okanto directed by Susanna Barranco, which captures a new social model led by women against the patriarchal capitalist system.; Madame Consuelo directed by Alexander Lemus, a documentary in which the director reconstructs his grandmother's life; Imágenes de Caracas directed by Lorena Cervera, a documentary about the Italian photographer and filmmaker Franca Donda; El color verde, the fictional debut from Paloma Zapata, director of the award-winning documentary Finding La Singla [+lire aussi :

The mockumentary End of Gravity by Slovenian director Igor Zupe, tells the story of a man who intends to end his life in space in order to bring culture and art to the place that will be inhabited by future generations; the Serbian Termites Have Wings of Approximately Same Length directed by Svetislav Dragomirovic, which tells the story of a couple in crisis who have to leave their termite-infested home; and The Day of Wrath: Tales from Tripoli by the Lebanese Rania Rafei, a mixture of fiction and documentary that reflects on the changes in the city and its inhabitants through five different historical moments.
