The Göteborg Film Festival’s Nordic Film Market is set to return from 29-31 January for its 26th edition, showcasing over 60 films and projects that underline the thriving creativity and innovation of Nordic cinema. Recognised as a leading marketplace for the region, the event will welcome nearly 500 industry professionals from 38 countries, including buyers, distributors, sales agents, producers, festival programmers, fund representatives and other key delegates.
This year's line-up includes 15 completed Nordic feature films, 15 works in progress and 14 films in development, to be presented through the Discovery co-production platform. Complementing these offerings is a new initiative, Nordic Gateway, spotlighting five standout international projects that are in financing and seeking Nordic partners (see the news).
Adding further to the diversity of the programme, nine projects created by students from Nordic film schools will be presented under the theme “Meet the New Nordic Voices”. This initiative is part of an ongoing multi-year project called NORD, led by the National Film School of Denmark, and including participants from the Norwegian Film School and the Stockholm University of the Arts. More information and additions to the programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
The highlight of the event will be the presentation of two major awards. The Film Finances Scandinavia Award, which provides €15,000 in development support, will honour a Nordic feature project in the Discovery section for its artistic excellence and potential to engage international audiences. The jury for this award includes Paolo Bertolin, senior programmer and artistic director of the New Zealand International Film Festival; Katrin Mersmann, head of funding and international co-production at MOIN Film Fund; and Goran Kapetanović, a director and writer.
The second accolade, the Tint Post-Production Award, valued at 400,000 SEK (€35,000), will be granted to an exceptional project from the Nordic Gateway section. This award, offered by Göteborg-based post-production company Tint, provides high-quality post-production services aimed at realising the artistic vision of the selected project. The jury includes film consultant Claus Lagegaard; Jacobine van der Vloed, managing director at ACE Producers; and Maria Ekerhovd, producer at Mer Film.
The Nordic Film Market will also feature exclusive screenings of several highly anticipated titles, offering a glimpse into the diverse range of stories emerging from the region. Highlights include Safe House by Eirik Svensson, which will open the Göteborg Film Festival and compete in the Nordic Competition (see the news), and Sauna [+lire aussi :
