Jeanette Nordahl’s sophomore feature, Beginnings, will celebrate its world premiere in the Panorama section of the upcoming Berlinale, unspooling in the German capital from 13-23 February (see the news). The Ølstykke-born filmmaker’s debut feature, Wildland [+lire aussi :

fiche film], was also presented in the Panorama strand of the festival in 2020. Nordahl studied at the alternative Danish film school Super16, from which she graduated in 2012.

fiche film]) together with Nordahl, centres on a woman called Ane who, amid her divorce, suffers a life-changing stroke, forcing her and Thomas to stay together and delay telling their children. Together, they face a new reality and find hope in unexpected places.

fiche film], which won a Silver Bear at the Berlinale. Additional cast members are Bjørk Storm, Luna Svelmøe and Johanne Louise Schmidt.
Key creatives include DoP Shadi Chabaan, editor Rasmus Gitz, sound designer Kristian Eidnes, composer Nathan Larsson and production designer Nikolaj Danielsen.
Beginnings was produced by Eva Jakobsen, Mikkel Jersin and Katrin Pors for Denmark’s Snowglobe, in co-production with Sweden’s HOBAB and Belgium’s Lemming Film, with backing from the Danish Film Institute. REinvent Studios is handling the pic’s world sales, whilst Scanbox is in charge of its domestic distribution.
Beginnings is the only Danish title set to world-premiere at this year’s Berlinale alongside Robin Petré’s new documentary Only on Earth, showcased in the Generation strand and sold by Austria’s Autlook.
